Wine Making
Monte Bluna Reserva 2018 is a blend of Aragonez and Tinta Miúda. Aragonez and Tinta Miúda were picked manually, with sorting, into small boxes of 20 kg. In the winery, the grapes were sorted again by hand and then de-stemmed. The crush - passive - was the result of transport to the vat. The grapes went through a day of pre-fermentation maceration and then fermented at a temperature of 23º C. The malolactic transformation was carried out in a cement deposit. Afterwards, Aragonez matured in used French (80%) and American (20%) oak casks from October 2017 to November 2018. Tinta Miúda, in turn, aged in used French oak casks for the same period. The batch was built 1 month after the wines came out of the casks, in December 2018 and rested for another 12 months in a stainless steel vat for sensory enhancement and increase in complexity, until bottling on December 22, 2020. To preserve its quality, Monte Bluna Reserva 2018 was bottled without treatment, thus giving rise to the formation of a natural deposit.
